5 signs  your spiritual business needs a content strategy

And what to do about it!

Let’s talk about when it’s time to get strategic with your content!

As a content marketer and online business manager who’s worked exclusively with spiritual entrepreneurs since 2019, I’ve seen the same patterns emerge time and time again.

Gifted healers, coaches, and conscious business owners with transformational gifts sometimes struggle to translate their magic into consistent, compelling content.

The truth is, your spiritual business has unique challenges when it comes to content creation. You’re not selling something that has tangible results (it’s a lot easier to sell a business course than a spiritual one).

You’re offering deep transformation, healing, and consciousness expansion. And that requires a completely different approach to how you show up online.

If you’re reading this and feeling like your content strategy is all over the show and lacking clarity, you’re not alone!! Trust me, I also feel this way at times, which is when I know I need to get my strategy hat back on.

Let me share the five signs that your spiritual business seriously needs a strategic approach to content creation.

Sign 1: You randomly post without a plan (and get crickets)

Does this sound familiar? You sit down to create content and think, “What should I post today?” You scroll through your phone looking for inspiration, maybe share a quote you found on Pinterest, or post a thought that popped into your head during meditation. You might find yourself spending painfully long on one post, unsure what to say or why you’re saying it or being overconsumed with perfectionism.

Now, there is not necessarily anything wrong with this approach to social media. For some people, it works and it can magnetise their soul mate clients to them with ease – so if this is you, then keep going as you were.

For the rest of us, while authentic sharing has its place, random posting without a strategy may feel more like your personal social media account without the direction to lead people to your offerings. People will come to your account and may be totally confused about what you offer, and if they can see themselves in your content or feel a resonance with what you are selling through your content, they’re probably not going to buy from you (even if they would be the perfect fit).

You might create some beautiful individual pieces, but they won’t come together to form something cohesive that actually serves your business goals.

I work with my clients to pick up all of the pieces of their social media presence, goals and offerings to create a strategic content map that makes sense and is easy for both of us to collaborate on (while always leaving room for spontaneous posts in the moment!).

Sign 2: Your content doesn’t connect to your offers

This is something I see often with spiritual entrepreneurs and teachers. You pour your heart into sharing incredible content filled with wisdom and codes from your unique body of work, but you don’t link what you are sharing to what you are offering.

Whether it is a free resource (to get followers in your email community and inside a buyer’s journey) or a paid program or 1:1 sessions, your content should revolve around your offers – that is, if you want to make a living from your spiritual business!

When it comes to content marketing on social media, different posts can serve different purposes.

Whether you want to reach new people, resonate with your audience, educate them, or directly sell, these different types of content can all be ultimately informed by your offers (even if you aren’t putting a call to action to an offer in every post).

Having this framework also helps you to create content and have ideas of what to post and when.

Effective content for spiritual businesses creates a bridge between inspiration and invitation. Every piece of content should serve your audience while gently guiding them toward a deeper connection with you and your work.

When your content strategy is aligned, it doesn’t just share pretty thoughts; it actively serves your business growth.

Sign 3: You’re constantly creating but not seeing results

Are you spending hours every week creating content but seeing minimal impact on your business?

You’re posting consistently, engaging with your audience, and maybe even going live regularly, but your engagement is stagnant, your follower count isn’t shifting, and most importantly, you aren’t seeing new inquiries or email subscribers (it’s not secret that you don’t need hundreds of thousands of followers to have a VERY successful online spiritual businsess).

This is often a sign that your content lacks strategic direction. You’re working hard, but you’re not working smart.

When you have a strategic approach, you can start to create less content that delivers better results and create space for inspiration, intuition, and spontaneity to flow.

Sign 4: Your message feels scattered all over the internet

You’re trying to be everywhere at once. You’re posting different types of content to suit Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok without any cohesive strategy.

Your message feels fragmented because you may be warping yourself to be palatable to each platform. You’re exhausted trying to keep up with it all.

Different platforms can serve different purposes in your business depending on where your ideal clients are hanging out, but they should all be working together to support your overall message and business goals.

Maintaining consistency across all touchpoints is crucial for cohesion, and also getting really real with yourself on which platforms are worth investing in according to your unique niche.

Sign 5: You’re burnt out from social media

If the thought of creating content makes you want to hide under a blanket, you’re experiencing content creation burnout.

This usually happens when you’re forcing yourself to show up online in ways that don’t feel authentic or sustainable.

You might be imitating what you see others are doing, even though it doesn’t feel aligned with your energy or message. Or you’re pressuring yourself to post daily when your natural rhythm calls for something different.

When you have the right support and strategy involved, you can create from a grounded place energetically and craft healthy boundaries around your time and use of social media.

Content creation can feel joyful and aligned rather than draining and forced.

The answer isn’t to abandon content creation altogether. Your audience needs to hear from you. Your future clients are searching for exactly what you offer. The truth is, prospective clients will most likely turn to your online presence to see what you are all about.

The solution is to approach content creation strategically while staying true to your spiritual values.

Create a Soul-Aligned Content Strategy

Here’s what a soul-aligned content strategy looks like:

  • Clarity on Your Core Message: You know exactly what transformation you provide and can articulate it clearly across all your content.
  • Content Pillars That Serve: Your content categories support both your audience’s needs and your business goals (get your content pillars sorted with this planner).
  • Sustainable Rhythm: Your posting schedule aligns with your energy and natural creative cycles.
  • Clear Client Journey: Your content guides people from discovery to booking with clear, gentle calls to action.
  • Authentic Voice: Everything you share feels genuinely like you, not like you’re trying to be someone else.

Your Next Steps

If you recognised yourself in these signs, don’t panic. Awareness is the first step toward transformation. Your spiritual business has incredible value to offer the world, and with the right strategic approach, your content can become a powerful tool for sharing your gifts.

Consider these immediate actions:

  1. Audit your current content: Look at your last 20 posts and ask yourself: Do these connect to my offers? Do they serve my ideal client? Do they reflect my authentic voice?
  2. Define your content pillars: Choose 3-4 main themes that support both your audience’s needs and your business goals.
  3. Create a simple content calendar: Plan your content in advance rather than scrambling each day (or copy mine).
  4. Track what matters: Focus on metrics that actually indicate business growth, not just vanity metrics.
  5. Get strategic support: Sometimes you need an outside perspective to see what’s not working and map a path forward.

With the right content strategy, you can share your gifts authentically while building a thriving business that supports your mission.

The world needs what you have to offer. Let’s make sure your content strategy supports your ability to serve at the highest level!
